Wow! What a jam packed show today.  It’s no wonder all we cover is National Security and international news events! National Security mosh pit, is what we had today.  Here’s what we covered in one hour!

• Iran and enriched uranium.  What more need one say?
• Three separate domestic terror acts thwarted in U.S. by the mighty FBI.  When the FBI kicks butt like this it gives the entire staff of the Need to Know! Show what we describe as a “Wargasm!” That feeling of ecstasy produced when U.S. Military, Intelligence, and Law Enforcement forces demonstrate their dominance in giving the smack down to evildoers.   Najibullah Zazi planned to attack targets in NYC on 9/11.
• Meanwhile in Dallas, TX Hosam Mahir Husein Smadi was arrested as he planned to detonate a bomb in a packed office building in Dallas.  If successful, the explosion could have killed thousands.  FBI agents posing undercover as al-Qaeda operatives gave Smadi an opportunity to take a less violent path, telling him:  ”In this case, you may perform Jihad in a less dangerous way, such as Jihad using your money, or in training yourself to avoid sins, indignities, and desires.”  Smadi’s reply, according to the FBI: “I have chosen to be a Mujahid with myself, blood, soul and body.”  Once more the agents again urged Smadi to reconsider, writing: “If you have any hesitation in this path, now is the time to change your mind.”  Smadi wrote back: “Thanks to God, I am happy and proud to be one of your hands.”  Yes, happy indeed, now how ’bout just putting both of those hands behind your back.
• And, were not done just yet… in Springfield, IL American Muslim convert, Michael Finton, a.k.a. Talib Islam, was arrested this week when he attempted to explode a van load of explosives in front of a federal courthouse in Springfield.  All three cases were unrelated and several others linked to the Zazi case may still be at large.
• Plus: Our favorite Despot with Daddy Issues Hugo Chavez pitches a tent with Muhammar Qadhafi.
• And: Manuel Zelaya pulls a half-baked Douglas MacArthur “I shall return!” stunt.  He is now back in Honduras living the Suite Life… in the Brazilian Embassy!  Meanwhile, manufacturing analysts disclosed this week that maintaining the light-proof black hue of  Manuel Zelaya’s ridiculous looking gaucho mustache, as well as whatever that is growing upon Muhammar Qadhafi’s scalp and face, has netted “Just for Men,” a popular manufacturer of mustache and beard dyes, record profits in 2008/2009.  Zelaya’s staff denies these reports, saying the deposed Honduran President uses horse-tail dye made in his native Honduras.  Said a source close to Zelaya, “El Presidente, he use only our own “Colores de la Cola de Cavallo” in his mustache.  Is good for all horses asses, even el Presidente!”

Problem solved: Apparently, the Need to Know! Show was so hot yesterday that we fried the board in our main production room. Just like I’d love to believe that David Blaine REALLY is magic, I’d like to believe that the we were the targets of an evildoer plot. The board will be replaced with a MILSPEC Need to Know! Show ruggedized, uparmored control board. Learn and adapt; applying COIN principles to the Need to Know! Show. Caller boards were full yesterday. Keep them coming and see you next Saturday!

Bizarre turn of events on the air live today on Need to Know!  While I, your host and Commanding Officer, was right in the middle of a pull-no-punches, over-the-edge, deep dive into some of the darkest and most controversial activities taking place in Iran today, the plug was pulled, mid-broadcast.  Show just went dead and those of us in the studio were bombarded with a piercing, high pitched (AND LOUD!) tone through our headsets.  My producer and engineer, Average Joe Weaver went to work on the boards like a battlefield surgeon trying to close a sucking chest wound.  All to no avail; our broadcast was shut down hard.  I and special guest, Mehran Riazaty, were in the middle of revealing the darkest truths of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the toxic behaviors of the Islamic Revolutionary regime in suppressing the Iranian people and endangering the region, when “eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!” and all went went dead.  As soon as the Need to Know! Show hour concluded at 3:00 PM EST, the normal News Talk Radio 860 AM WGUL resumed!  Joe who is anything but “average” on the boards, as well as our other engineers, had never experienced anything quite like it.  Coincidence?  Probably.  A strange one, though, at best.

Thanks to our callers who got through and apologies to those who were casualties of our “event.”  The boards were FULL today.
